What is it?

One of the clear lessons of recent years is that the rapidly expanding use of technology in the public and nonprofit sectors requires the broad availability of advanced technology acquisition programs at affordable prices. These public and nonprofit organizations include colleges, universities, school districts, state agencies, municipalities, hospitals, and other organizations serving the public good. As individual organizations, however, they are severely limited in their capacity to constantly keep up with new advances in technology. And they are challenged in their ability to negotiate long-term affordable prices for technology programs.

Over the past several years, a number of public and non-profit organizations have discovered the benefits of pooling their expertise and resources on a regional basis under MiCTA. Building on that experience, in 2001 a new nationwide organization — the American TeleEdCommunications Alliance (“ATAlliance”) — was established to address further these technology challenges and to further leverage the collective purchasing and leadership power of its membership through the regional educational compacts.

The Board of Directors of the ATAlliance consists of representatives of
each of its founding members, listed to the left.
